I'm so excited, and I just can't hide it! LOL (Pointer Sisters) That one line is stuck in my head.
Anyhow, It's all been finalized! I'm going to Tennessee State Fairgrounds Flea Market in a couple of weeks!!! Yippee!
My husband has some work to do in Memphis. He asked if I wanted to tag along. (what a nice man!) So, I am planning on flying to Nashville Thursday evening & spending all day Friday junkin'.
I'm starting my research early. Making a list of all the places I want to visit while in Nashville. If you have any suggestions, I'd love to hear them. (antique malls, thrift store, tourist sites, etc.) This will be my first "out of state" junkin' trip and I am trying to make the most of it.
Right now, the only activities I have planned are attending the flea market & going to see Trace Atkins & Marty Stuart at the Grand Ole Opry.
I read that The Tennessee State Fairgrounds Flea Market is considered to be among the top 10 flea markets in the country. Which lead me to do a google search.
Here's the list: TOP 10 FLEA MARKETS IN THE US
- Apache Park-N-Swap, Apache Junction, Arizona
- Rose Bowl Flea Market, Pasadena, California
- The Flea Market, San Jose, California
- Thunderbird Swap-Meet, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida
- Flea World, Orlando, Florida
- Shipshewana Auction & Flea Market, Shipshewana, Indiana
- The Flea Market, Tennessee State Fairgrounds, Nashville, Tennessee
- First Monday Trade Days, Canton, Texas
- Trader's Village Flea Market, Grand Prairie, Texas
- Rummage-O-Rama, Milwaukee, Wisconsin
I have been to 8 & 9... and Can't wait to add #7 to my list.
Which of the 10 have you attended?

Hi Joanna! I have been to Flea World in Orlando; in fact it was less than two months ago. I have to tell you, I was NOT that impressed. About 80% of the vendors sell brand new stuff imported from China; very few vendors have the old junky stuff we love! If anyone is considering going to Flea World, I would recommend instead a visit to the little town of Webster, FL (which is about 40 miles northeast of Flea World). They have a gigantic flea market every Monday (yes, only on Mondays) that starts at 7:00 a.m. (and you WILL want to get there that early, because you can't possibly see everything in one day). They have very cleverly put the people selling new stuff in a separate area from the people with "yard sale" items, which are separate from the people with "vintage" or antique items, which are separate from the "farmer's market" area that has fresh produce. So you don't have to waste your time looking at anything you don't want to. Even then, it's hard to see it all in one day. There are also lots of vendors with carnival type food such as ice cream, bratwurst, turkey legs, lemonade shake-ups, funnel cakes, etc. I would put Webster at the top of any list of things to do when visiting Florida (it's not that far from Disney and Sea World and all that, too).
