Paper Cowgirl Retreat '09

My, how time passes quickly!

It's hard to believe, a week ago tonight
I was waiting for the clock to strike five,
so that I could meet everyone at the
Dove's Nest for a private reception.

This was my 1st time setting up for
a craft fair...  I figured we made a
perfect pair!

She had the "hand crafted" items,
and I had "stuff".

Angela

Alisa
Alisa & Nina were amongst the first to
"shop" at our table.

Don't you just love Nina's costume?

She was voted "Best Dressed Saloon Gal"!

I then walked over to the Crafty Scrapper where
I met up with Mendy & her SIL, Elisa.

Unfortunately, I was too busy shopping & didn't
think to get any photos.

And finally,  dinner!

About 20 of us met at the Chisholm Grill
for a good ol' Texas dinner.

One of my favs:   chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes
& gray,  with fresh cut green beans.
Bread

No pics of me stuffin' my face!   tee-hee

I went home tired & stuffed!  :)

But my experience was amazing.
I met up with some old friends & made some new.

Thanks, Cindy & Tina for hosting
such a wonderful retreat!

A crown for her

I've been busy getting ready
for the paper cowgirl retreat.

Sewing this, making that.

A little glitter here.

...Well,  maybe a lot of glitter!   tee-hee

So, while taking a little break from
the fabric fat book pages
I made for
Valita's swap,
and the memory book pages
I'm making for Kim's swap
...

I made this.

Center

A special crown for her!

Side

I really enjoy working with chicken wire.

I love taking something so rustic and weathered
and turning into something beautiful.

Side2

for this crown,  I used the traditional
"Bella" colors
:  pink & aqua

Which happens to be the softer version of
my favorite colors.  :)

Crown

Lots of crepe paper, some feathers, beads
and glitter...

and I'm all done.

Crowns

I have to admit,
since attending Silver Bella '08,
I have a small obsession with crowns.

Whenever I go out junkin' ...
I am always on the look out for:

*  crowns/tiaras,
Rhinestone

*  jewelry pieces

Piece

Crown

*  items that would work well
in "dressing up" a crown.
(rhinestones, brooches, lace,
beaded head pieces or millinery)

Beads

* and chicken wire

Chicken wire

Here are a couple of crowns
I have created:

This 1st one was made using
wire, beads, glitter, and
piece of silver Christmas tree for the base

 Crown

It's just the perfect size for her!
wouldn't you agree?

DSC_0149

Last year, Suzanne Duda of Pink Roses
gave me the idea to create a crown
using chicken wire.   So...

DSC_0080

I constructed this one for
Kim Caldwell's March event:
Spring Maiden Crown Swap

Front

Center

Left

The only thing left to do is
whip up a crown using fabric!

... Oh! and S-H-O-P for more "crown" accessories!

What type of accessories do you use?
And where do you shop for them?

Have a wonderful day!

Vintage Lefton Wall Hanging

Lucky me!   tee-hee

I found the absolute cutest,

Vintage Lefton Wall Hanging at

a yard sale the other day.

Two Kittens...

 Kittens01

riding in a hot air balloon.

... and they are waving their lil' paws!

Balloon

They are painted a baby blue & baby pink color,

and the bow around their neck

is a tad darker.

 Kittens02

The basket was made

to resemble a little wicker basket.

Air balloon

And the balloon has a light shade of yellow

and some gold accents that match

the gold string tying the 2 pieces together.

Too cute, huh?

I am thinking about gifting it to

a Bella sister/blog friend that I met

last year in Omaha.

It's totally her style!

Any ideas on who I might be thinking of?

tee-hee

Have a pink-a-licious day!

xoxo, Joanna

* for a full list of Pink participants,

"float" on over to Beverly's.  :)

Multi-purpose table

Garden tour

Hello!

Thanks for joining me.  :)

Are you familiar with Tracey of

A Cottage Industry or

Rhondi, Rose Colored Glasses?

They both have great, little blog that I love!

And I wanted to partake in both,

Tracey's  garden tour and Rhondi's porch party

This year, Tracey thought it would be fun

to focus on one specific idea or area...

So, today, I'd like to share

a little corner of my patio!

It's "home" to my potting table.

Potting 4

I love my little table!

It fits perfectly in the corner,

it's functional & multi- purpose.

In a snap, it doubles as an snack/beverage bar

when I'm entertaining guest...

or the kids have their friends over.

(which is most helpful because it keeps

them from coming in & out of the house a 1000x).

I just LoVe my lil' table!

It definitely makes being outdoors

more enjoyable.  :)

bad blogger

I feel like such a "bad" blogger!

I have a ton of things to share with you...

just no time to actually post pics & write.  ugh!

(hopefully that will change shortly)

Anyhoo, here's a quick update:

First things first,  Can you believe it's JuNe?

I am no longer a dealer (at the antique mall).

Cleaned out my booth this weekend.  : (

I marked everything down, sold my displays,

and received my best check ever!  : )

As of today, I'm back on my diet.

Walked 3.5 miles last night.

Working on swap stuff for Paper Cowgirl Art Retreat

and a memory book for En Le Jardin.

Gathering items for my vendor table,

Paper Cowgirl.  (June 26th)

Still busy rushing the kids around town.

Baseball is in full swing.

Small break from dance, but

theatre & dance camp start next week.

Busy with Doctor appointments.

My daughter has a MRI schedule for this

Wednesday.  (head aches on a daily basis now).

Maybe you could say a quick prayer for her.

I know she will be fine!

But she's having some anxiety regarding the testing.

Wishing you a great day!

Lucky Charm

Necklace

On my way home from work tonight,

I was in a car accident.

Thank the Lord, no one was injured.

But it could have been bad.

Real bad.

A vehicle ahead of me slammed on his brakes,

causing all the cars behind him to slam on theirs.

Unfortunately, the motorcyclist behind me

did not stop in time... he hit my car

full force.  He was not wearing a helmet!

I immediately called 911.

Too afraid to get out of the car & look at his

injuries, I tried to flag those on the right side of me.

No one stopped!

Thank the Lord, this man is alive.

I am alive.

I am a little shaken and already feeling

so very sore and have a small head ache.

I can't begin to imagine what he feels like.

But thank goodness we are here.

Once I caught my breath and was released

from the accident, I realized my

"lucky charm"

was there with me,

hanging from my mirror.

*5/28 ~  thank you all for your sweet comments &

concerns.   I am doing much better.

I was able to drive today with no anxiety.   Which is nice!  : )

Please remember to leave a little wiggle room

between you and the car in front of you!

And hopefully, people will start wearing helmets!!

hugs,   Joanna
